About This Family Saturday EXTRA!
Family Saturday EXTRA! is an enhanced version of our regular Family Saturdays, offering all the familiar hands-on family activities alongside additional themed experiences.
On Saturday 3 October, families are invited to take part in our Festival of Creativity, a museum-wide celebration of imagination, making and creative exploration. Inspired by the magical world of The Wizard of Oz, this year's event will transform spaces across the museum with activities, workshops and opportunities to get creative together.
Whether you're crafting, building, creating, experimenting or discovering something new, there will be plenty to enjoy throughout the day.
What Will Be Happening on the Day?
Included in the day is:
- Wizard of Oz inspired arts and crafts activities
- Creative making sessions where families can build, design and decorate their own creations
- Drop-in artist-led workshops
- Live demonstrations from our carpenter-in-residence, showcasing traditional woodworking techniques
- Hands-on science activities and creative challenges
- Family-friendly competitions and museum trails
- All the much-loved Family Saturday favourites

Families are welcome to explore the museum’s galleries, take part in creative activities throughout the day and enjoy refreshments or lunch in Café Nineteen20. This event forms part of our wider Family Saturdays programme, which takes place on the first Saturday of every month.
