The National Civil War Centre is on the hunt for Newark’s next master spy! Aspiring secret agents up to the age of 14 are being asked to design glorious gadgets fit for a super spy for the chance to win a prize package full of espionage essentials, including your own walkie talkies, a message decoding kit and an annual pass for a family of 4 to the museum!
Every super spy needs their tools of the trade to help with top secret missions, whether they’re for hiding coded messages, daggers or poison, seeing round corners to sneak a peek at the enemy, changing your appearance in the blink of an eye or more! Glorious gadget designs can be submitted in person at the National Civil War Centre or online by posting them with the hashtag #gloriousgadgets, a brief description and the spy’s name and age to either the Centre’s Facebook (@NationalCivilWarCentre), Twitter (@CivilWarCentre) or Instagram (@nationalcivilwarcentre).
Entries should be posted by 2nd September. One master spy will be awarded first place and the grand prize package and a runner-up will receive a smaller prize as well as a family annual pass. Winners will be announced by the 9th September.
Why not get some inspiration and visit the National Civil War Centre’s Summer of Spies. Pick up some tricks of the espionage trade by meeting a couple of 17th century super spies, Aphra Behn and the Anonymous Spy, and get hands on with history in our craft sessions making a spectacular spy kit!
