Under Siege: Armour and Siege Warfare in the 17th century

By the 17th century gunpowder weaponry had come to radically affect the nature of warfare. On the battlefield increasing numbers of men were equipped with firearms, and the use of artillery and explosives in siege warfare led to new designs of fortification. Join Keith Dowen, Assistant Curator at the Royal Armouries to discover how armourers responded to these developments.
